My last term

Hello, my name is Stephanie Parada, I study psychology in this faculty. Now I am in my last semester of my career.
Really, the last term was for my very difficult. I often was about to get stressed, because it was a semester very intense in all aspect of my life.
With respect to the University’s demand was very high, however I learned many things about of my occupation and even myself. In addition, I found the area to which I want to spend when you finish the career. This is: Child Clinic.
Regarding to free time activities I practiced Arab dance and I had to make a presentation when the workshop ended. I love dance, but I don’t practice often, because my priority is other.
On the other hand, last term wasn’t so good with friends. I stopped seeing some of my friends, because we didn’t the same concept of friendships.
Really big challenges that I faced the previous semester had to do with the family. This year my family has had major problems, which affected me a lot.
In this respect, I think on an emotional level the previous semester was not very good for me. For this I hope this new semester is better!

My blogging experience

I feel like it was yesterday the first time I wrote in my blog, but when I get to see all the Entries I notice that it really is not, as I have already written part of my story on this blog and I have represented many of my likes and dislikes.

In order, I leave a part of me in this way, which I wanted to give sincerely.

Beyond that it was because every week I have like task to write in my blog, every time I wrote in it was more than an obligation. It was a break in my week, the moment that gave me time for myself, to analyze my life, my tastes, my family, and relevant issues that with all demanding pace of college rarely analyzed.

For all these I really enjoyed it. Blogging is an experience that had not experienced before, and I consider very well for taking time to yourself and meet others like you.

Also of contribute as mentioned previously, I think having a blog really helped me in writing in English and above in reading.

In the beginning every time I read something in English I have to be constantly looking for the translation of the words that appeared. But now, I can read majority of the blog without having to translate the words, as though not all know them, I get to interpret what it means for the rest of the reading.

The advantages I mentioned previously, and like disadvantages I think maybe missed more time to blogging and relate more with the rest of the evaluations of the course. For example not just writing about a topic, too discuss in class.

So with these finished, I nice write and you reading about my classmates. Thanks for sharing with me.

“Termas Valle de Colina"

Hi, how are you? ...me? a cold again…

In relation to the theme of today, In fact I've rarely gone to places other than my home on winter holidays. Usually I stay home, sleep and take spoiled with my loved ones.
However there is a place I would love to know, which I consider as the best place to go on winter holidays. This place is “Termas Valle de Colina”.

I think that place is the best to go on holiday, because it is in our country and shows the amazing of nature around us, showing the beauty of life beyond of the work, stress, and the little life that often have us.



Termas Valle de Colina, is a resort located Specifically in the middle mountain of the Andes in the Cajon del Maipo, at the foot of the volcano San Jose.
Here you can find a large area for camping, natural spring water and shelter. You can also enjoy hiking, horseback riding, photography sessions, among others.

The most important in this place are the natural hot springs waters ranging from 25° Celsius (77° Fahrenheit) to 60° Celsius (140° Fahrenheit) temperature. The thermal baths are composed of eight natural pools, which are located within the beautiful mountain landscape.



Also in this place one can see beautiful lakes, ancient glaciers and native animals such as Condor.

Moreover, the wide range of minerals with thermal waters that have allowed counter various physical illnesses and / or psychological.

To get to the “Termas Valle de Colina” should be taken Avenida La Florida, then continue on Route G-25. This road extends to the town of San Gabriel, with a total of 66 km, paved road and another 34 km approximately of unpaved road, passing through towns such as El Volcán, Lo Valdés, reaching the town of "Valle de Colina".

I recommend going to this place for you know the beauty of our country and our planet in general.

My nephew =)

The theme of this blog if I like! = D. The only bad thing is that I'm so jammed with what I have to do that I can’t as I would enjoy it =(.

As you can to see, the picture was taken long ago, in 2007. Has even been so long I really do not remember who took the photograph. I can only remember how happy I felt at that moment.

In this photograph is my nephew, who was a year and half old, and me. We are giving a “Kiss of love as I said to him. My love for my nephew, who is also my godson, is so great that even sometimes I feel it's almost like my son, and even he told me mom.

With my nephew have a very intimate relationship, we love each other and pampered lot. But, although I love him, I am very strict with him, and I challenge him sometimes when he misbehaves. Then I get all the psychological inside me and I convert, so I do understand and stop misbehaving, of course not always happen that sometimes drives me crazy.

He is an exquisite child and now that is bigger (four years old) does many things. He loves to laugh and make you laugh, tells you what's wrong (so much fun = P), it makes you gift drawings, he sings, dances, etc. It is also very affectionate.
I love this picture, not just because I am whom I love, but also because it reminds me how happy I am taking my loved ones by my side, and because I realize how important love in life.

It is true I was really stressed before writing, but this made me realize that there are more important things to fret so much you have to do, this is the family, and all those you love. = D

Lazos de Amor

The last book I read was a novel called “Lazos de Amor”, it was one year ago. I read it in the winter break last year.

The author of this book is the psychiatry Brian Weiss. He is an advocate of the clinical applications of regression or past life therapy in treating phobias, addictions, depression, and psychosomatic disorders. Weiss uses hypnosis to access patient’s memories of their childhood and past lives.

This book is a story about fate and hope, based on a true story. Weiss tells of the experience of their patients, especially of Pedro and Elisabeth.

Weiss used the method of the regressions and auto-regressions attempt to cure his patients, trying to see the starting point your problem in other past lives. While trying to Pedro, also trying to a patient named Elisabeth. What is surprising is that after several sessions without know them; Weiss began to realize that their souls had agreed on several their previous lives.

I really liked the book because it is an area that I’m quite interested. Otherwise the subject of past lives is striking me and is something I think is true.
I really believe in destiny, that there are past lives, we have a mission to play in every life, and we are all connected.

I recommend reading “Lazos de Amor” as a first approach of the regressions, however the entire book within a novel, so despite being based on a true story, sometimes a bit fantastic. Therefore, after reading this book I recommend read a book of Joel Whitton.

What tнe #$*! Dө ωΣ (k)πow!?

Hi, how have you been?... Me? Still I have a cold.

The last movie I saw was “What the bleep do we know” o “What tнe #$*! Dө ωΣ (k)πow!?”. It was yesterday for the course Introduction to Cognitive Constructivist Metatheory, because the test of course is to combine the matter with the movie. For that reason, I saw with my classmates and the teacher. The movie had already seen three years ago, but then did not understand.

This films not is a movie common, because is a films that for look to explain the reality combining mystical belief and postulate of quantum mechanics as well as general notions of psychology, psychiatry, and chemistry.

The ideas of movie are accompanied for the story of main character, Amanda. She is a deaf photographer that amending throughout history its psychological predisposition against the environment that surrounds her.

The fictional story in its development suggests that the activity of consciousness can affect physical reality.

The actors and actresses are not known they are Marlee Matlin, Elaine Hendrix, Robert Bailey Jr., Barry Newman, John Ross Bowie, Armin Shimerman, Robert Blanche, among others.

I liked the movie very much, because I agree with that vision, the constructivist theory in psychology.

So they recommended, but I advise them to see it more than once to understand it, because I know it is very complex.

Digital Camera

My favourite piece of technology is the Digital Camera. This is a camera that takes photographs and moving video that one can watch immediately. It works by an electronic image sensor. Also, many cameras digital can record sound.
I got my first digital camera 2 years ago; I was very happy when to bought it, because I would
Allow to register many moments important for me.

I use it to take photographs of my family, my friends, landscapes, etc. , and to record my nephew when he sings, dances or plays tricks.

At first I always used my camera. I used to take photographs of all. But, now I sometimes used my camera only for special moments.

I like digital cameras because they allow me to record many things very quickly. But this is the biggest defect for me, because when you take many photos you lose the essence of each photograph as it was before.

It would be very difficult for me not to have a digital camera, because I got used to the immediacy.

Music for me =)

The music is really everything for me. I like all kinds of music for the simple fact of being music. Therefore it’s very difficult to me decide what is my favorite music, artistic, group, etc. My tastes vary in to hear one day hip hop music, rock next day, later pop music. In the end, depends of my mood, the place where I am, whatever I want to do, among other factors. The most important for me is that sounds good.

However, when I was a child my favorite artist was Shakira, I had all his records. My favorite album was “Pies descalzos”, and my favorite song was “Se quiere se mata”.

Now my favorite group is Faith no more, because I like this the kind of music and I love the voice of Mike Patton. I think that he is the best male singer. He can use his voice to multiple ways. I went to the concert of last year that did Faith no more last year and it was really amazing. I yet get excited when I listen the recording of concert in Chile.
Faith no more was formed in 1982 and it is a mixture of funk, rap, punk, metal, etc. Maybe that’s way I like so much: by diversity.

Jacob Levy Moreno.

Jacob Levy Moreno is the person that I admire the most in psychology. He was born in Bucharest, Romania on May 18, 1889 and died on May 14, 1974. He was an important psychiatrist, psychologist and educator that founded psychodrama and sociometry. Also he was the foremost pioneer of the group psychotherapy.

He had a conception holistic of the human being, this is, thinks the human being as everything as for the cognition, the emotion and the physical. Moreno spoke too that the spontaneity and creativity are the propelling forces in human progress. In this sense he was very important in humanistic psychology.

In the practice, the psychodrama is a group therapy that defines its method across the coordination of groups by means of the action, working with and for the groups as a whole with these.

I like him because I share with the conception that he had of the human being, the importance that have the others in us and that he considered the progress human more than the negative aspects of the human being has. Also, I like the technique of psychodrama. =)

My favorite hobbies

Actually I have enough hobbies, because there are many things I enjoy doing. I like playing the guitar, singing, going dancing, visiting my friends, watching movies, sleeping, seeing the stars, swimming, listening to music, etc.

But, singing is the hobby that I like the most. Since I was a child I have always sung. Even, when I was 8 years old I did a show where I had to dress up of different singers, for example, Shakira and Shania Twain. Also I went to the TV, to the program el Club de amigos de la red. But now I wouldn’t do this!

My second favorite Hobby is seeing the stars. Also, since I was a child I really enjoy it. Before of I want to study psychology, I wanted to study astronomy, but my destination was another.

My experience with respect of earthquake

Hi, how have you been?... Me? Still I have a cold
The day of earthquake I was not in my house, I was in the house of a friend that he was of birthday. We were dancing when it began. At first I did not frighten, but after I scared a lot, because a friend began to shout. She desperate called to her mom and brother, while I trying to calm her.
Later she took her car to go home and I went with her. In her house the situation was worse, because not only my friend shouted, her mother and brother, too. I was to try of reassure them with each aftershock. I could arrive at my home at 9 o’clock.
Post-earthquake, I collected food house by house in the commune of San Miguel, and later I join of group Psiconstrucción, that search to help people affected by the earthquake, in this group I have learned a lot about of the psychology of the emergency.

The beginning

Hi, my name is Stephanie Parada. I was born on April 12th, 1988. I´m Chilean and I study psychology at Universidad de Chile, this is my four years, I love my study.
I’m youngest sister of four brethren, and now I live alone with my parents. My great passion is sing, I love it.
On this respect of the English, I know very few and it more difficult for me is the listening. Therefore I hope to learn with you.
